Sad to say,
but all good thinks come to an end. Today was the last competition of the summer
season, The Captain's team event. suffice to say that the Captain's team won, the
top four scores totalling 140 points, 43 of which were recorded by Tom Skead,
who is having a 'hot' patch at the moment, the other members of the winning team
were Gordon Milne, Malcolm Mackenzie & Jim Shaw. The Vice Captain's team were
runners up and last but not least the Past Captain's team.
Gordon Milne recorded a 'HOLE in ONE' at the 6th,
congratulations to Gordon
So Monday sees the start of the winter season, it kicks off with the
'Snowball' stableford and due to the reduced number palying in the winter league
a few extra 'snowball' stableford competition will be played
A full list of the Winter Programme has been posted on the notice board along
with your winter handicap.
Lets hope for some reasonable weather during the winter.
A new feature added to the web is the News Archive. It is experimental,
rather than deleting completely previous monthly news, it will be put into the

Here we go,
first round of the Winter Snowball Stableford. The reduced handicap members were
playing to today meant that scoring was not high. Regardless John Mason is
continuing his run of good play with another win returning 35 points as
did Jim Smith who lost out on a CPO.

On a very
lovely warm autumn afternoon 27 members turned out to play in today's stableford
competition. Scoring was an improvement on Monday, but then again the green were
in better condition and putting much easier. Francis Fitzpatrick with 39 points
was today's winner, John Ross was runner up with 37 points. Both player have had
their respective handicaps cut by 1 stroke.
Check the team event start times page for your playing partners in the
'Texas Scramble' on Monday 29th October

Big change in
the weather today, much much cooler but that did not deter members turning out
to play. In all 32 played in today's stableford competition and following on
from last Thursday, Francis Fitzpatrick, along with two other members returned
37 points, Francis taking top spot on a card play off, Roger Rees was runner up
and Peter Shakespeare was the other member with the same score.
Thursday 25th October 2007
The first
round of the Winter League Matches were played today and a few members tagged
along behind the matches enjoying their own little competitions in the late
autumn sunshine, well for most of the afternoon the sun shone.
Monday 29th October 2007
On another
pleasant autumn day 33 members, 11 teams took part in a Texas scramble. Scoring
did prove a little difficult with only one team managing to record a gross score
under par. With and excellent net 66.6, the team of Jim Samuel, Alan Best &
Roger Rees took top spot. Captain, David Slater and his playing partners of past
captain's, David McCulloch and Sandy Thorburn were runners up with a net 67.3
Thursday 1st November 2007.
It's that
time of year again, the earlier start on Thursday during the winter. Not the
best of day's for weather, which had the effect of reducing the field today.
Less than 30 members playing. Ian Melrose with 37 points was today's winner,
runner up was Gordon Milne with 36 points
Monday 5th November 2007
Bit of a damp
squib today, only one member managed to sparkle!! Yep not the best of days as
far as the weather went. Surprisingly 30 members turned out and played
considering that from the outset the weather was not kind to the members,
blustery winds with rain. Tom Skead, yes that man again, was the bright spark of
the day with a very good 38 points, Gordon Milne with 36 points was the runner
up.
Monday 12th November 2007
A cold and
very frosty start for the early riser and player, a day when the conditions
favoured the later starters as the sun rose and thawed the greens out. A very
pleasant morning all the same, enjoyed by 34 members who turned out to play. Ray
Arthurs with a fine 38 points was today's winner, John Mason with 37 points was
runner up. Both players have had their handicaps reduced accordingly.
Thursday 15th November 2007
A disappointing turn out by members today, just a meagre 28 members played in
rather glorious late autumn sunshine. The playing condition were much better
today than Monday and this was reflected in the scores. Best score of the day
was 41 points returned by Gordon Milne. Tom Skead with 37 points was runner up.
Monday 19th November 2007
An excellent
turnout by members to play in today's team stableford. Fortunately the weather
held of and apart form the strong wind the members enjoyed the day's
competition. Playing the best 2 scores to count on the first 6 holes and last
six holes with all 3 score to count in the middle six holes proved to be quite
difficult, there wasn't one team that managed to record 3 scores on the middle
six holes. All the same the team of Graham Orange, Andy McCann & George Dunning
returned a very good score of 80 points. Runners up were David Hoggard, David
Blackett & Ian Melrose
Monday 26th November 2007
On a cool calm day another good turn out by members. 37 members played in
today's Snowball stableford. Roger Rees, Alan Best and Brian Norgrove all
returned 36 points. Roger Rees taking the honours on a count-back.
Thursday 29th November 2007
With quite a
few members playing catch-up with their respective Winter League matches there
was a somewhat reduced field in today's stableford competition. Following on
from yesterdays' heavy rain the course played long today, no run on the ball, so
scoring proved difficult. David Blackett with 34 points was the winner, Gordon
Milne was the runner up
