With 1 score to count on the 1st 6 holes, 2 scores on the next 6 holes and all three scores to count on the final six holes with the addition of all 3 scores to count on the par 3 holes there were some differences in results from a high of 87 points to a low of 66 points. The team of Tom Skead, Gordon White & Malcolm MacKenzie took the first prize with a score of 87points, runners-up were John Ross, Jim Cruddas & John Morton-Carruthers with 81 points.

Thursday 6th August 2009

Good golfing weather today, not much wind, quite pleasant conditions all of which resulted in some good scores being returned. In addition it was good to see so many members playing, the best turnout on a Thursday for some time. John Ross returned a good net 68 in today's medal to take first prize. Then there were 3 members who returned net 69's and on a card play off the order was, David Hoggard, Douglas Pringle and Gordon White.

Monday 10th August 2009.

A wet wet morning but the Captain barked his orders and said 'We will play' and play we did. 23 members made the effort and in the end didn't suffer to much as the morning rain eased into the odd shower. David McCulloch & John Ross both returned 38 points with David taking top spot on a card play off. Jim Cruddas was third with 37 points. Douglas Pringle recorded the only 2 of the day.

Monday 17th August 2009

A good turn out today for the 1st round of the Ralph Ramsden Medal. 32 members enjoyed a very blustery day without the promised rain. Thursday 20th August 2009

The weather was the winner again, the course was closed for the morning and the second round of the Ralph Ramsden has been postponed. As lunchtime arrived the course was reopened and a few members who had turned up for a chat and cuppa went out and played.

Monday 24th August 2009

After a weekend of rain and some heavy overnight rain the Mallards were fortunate to be playing in warm sunshine, even if the course was a bit soggy. 32 members took part in today's medal 'eclectic' and with the course being wet there was no run on the ball and scoring was rather high. SSS for the day was 74, but Roger Rees once again returned a good score taking 1st place with a net 70. Graham Orange with a net 75 was runner up. Jim Samuel and Joe Hardon were 3rd & 4th.

Today's net scores were used as the second round of the Ralph Ramsden Trophy, (postponed from Thursday 20th August. Jack Carruthers with a net 66 in the 1st Round followed by a net 77, total 143 was more than good enough to win the Trophy. So congratulations to Jack

Thursday 27th August 2009

The 'Nations Trophy' was contested today by way of a 4BBB match play competition where members representing England played against members representing the Celts, the other home nations, this year the Celts ran out comfortable winners

Thursday 3rd September 2009

No golf today, not even the match at Kirkcudbright. An early morning call from the Kirkcudbright organiser told of the course being closed due to the water lying on the course following persistent rain over the past few days. Eden course was open but of the few members who did turn up non ventured forth, 'RAIN' Lets hope for a better week next week.

Monday 7th September 2009

A good day for golf, the first for a long time, no rain, warm and pleasant out, and the difference was there for all to see with some very good returns in today's medal. Gordon Milne, again, with a net 65 and the best gross ran out a comfortable winner. Derek Smith with a net 69 was runner up. John Ross and Ian Melrose with net 72's were 3rd and 4th. Graham Orange recorded the only 2 of the day.

Thursday 10th September 2009

A good day for golf, warm and sunny with very little wind. Some good scores returned, one in particular that man again, Gordon Milne, doing what Scotland couldn't do, won again. With an excellent score of 42 points Gordon took top prize for the second time this week. Runner up was Allan Benson with 37 points, Gordon White with 36 points was 3rd and David Slater with 34 points was 4th. Gordon White and Donald Edgar shared the 2's pot.

No 2's recorded.

Thursday 17th September 2009

Gosh a very poor turn out by members today, just 17 played in the medal competition. Weather wise and excellent day. Jim Samuel, so close on a number of occasions to winning a competition finally made it today with an excellent score of a net 69. runner up was George Dunning, 3rd, Joe Hardon, there only being 3 prizes today, Gordon Milne who was 4th missed out, but alas he did go home with the 2's pot, he being the only one t return a two.

Monday 21st September 2009

A pleasant morning for golf as the Mallards enjoyed a Team Texas Scramble. The winners were the team of Rob Woodland, Ian Melrose and David Blackett, runners up were Donald Edgar, Joe Hardon and Tom Gordon. The course was played with a slight variation in the 1st hole and the Hadrian's course was used as a means to avoiding the temporary green on the 1st hole of the Eden course. A nice variation

Thursday 24th September 2009

The penultimate medal competition and final medal 'eclectic was played today. Conditions were cool with a stiff breeze and this was reflected in the scores. With just 20 members taking part, rather a poor turn out, Gordon Milne, again took top spot on a CPO from Ian Castle, both with net 72's. Alan Nixon was 3rd. Joe Hardon & John Ross shared the 2's pot.

With it being the last of the 'Eclectic' rounds, Joe Hardon ran out the winner of the trophy with an overall net 57.

Other finals were played out this week the singles and doubles knockout competitions. Andy McCann won the singles knockout, Graham Orange was the runner up. In the doubles knockout Andy McCann and his partner David Blackett won, with David McCulloch & Malcolm Mackenzie runners up.

So with just a couple of individual competitions to play, the medal & stableford finals, the summers season is rapidly coming to a close

Monday 28th September 2009

Malcolm Mackenzie with 38 points was today's winner. Cyril Hankey and Allan Benson both returned 37 points, Cyril taking second place on a CPO. Likewise Douglas Pringle, 4th, was the best card of a number of players with 36 points. Gordon White recorded the only 2 of the day.
