Spring!, more
like the return of winter as the members played in the opening Medal
competition. Cold and very windy, this was reflected in some unusually high
scores, well for the majority that is, apart from one who had an excellent
return. Alan Best with a net 69 was today's winner. Runner up was Gordon White
with a net 70, 3rd and 4th were Ian Castle and Robert Waite with net 72 and 73
respectively. Alan Nixon recorded the only 2 of the day.
Sadly, the committee wish to bring to your attention that Andy McCann died
today. Funeral arrangements etc. will be advised, when known.
Thursday 8th April 2010
The members
enjoyed a Team Stableford event today. Playing in cool, windy conditions with
the odd shower of rain, scoring was tough, well for all the teams apart from one
which returned a very good 85 points. That was the team of Ian Castle, Jim
Cruddas and Ernie Henderson, runners up with a score of 74 points was the team
of George Bullamore, Brian Rowe and Alan Nixon
Monday 12th April 2010

the season inter club matches was played today. The Mallards enjoyed the company
of seniors from Kirkcudbright Golf Club and for a change were comfortable
winners of the match. Members from both teams enjoyed an evening meal after the
match.

Plenty of
sunshine for the members to enjoy today but still cool out. A stableford

Thursday 22nd April 2010
A party of 12
members travelled to Whickham for a match against the Whickham Seniors. As
always very difficult to come away with anything against Whickham, at least it
was played in brilliant sunshine and lightening fast greens that were difficult
to adjust to after the slowness of our own greens. A good day enjoyed by all.
Result was a win for Whickham 4½ - 1½
Monday 26th April 2010
A cool start
to the day and the 1st round of the Medal 'Eclectic'. The course seemed to play
extra long today, not much run after the overnight rain and playing from the
white tees. Douglas Pringle was the winner on the day with a net 75, Tom Skead
was runner up also with a net 75 and Jim Cruddas was 3rd. Just 22 members
entered the competition. Tom Skead recorded the only 2 of the day
Thursday 29th April 2010
Oh dear, what
happened, a pretty poor turn out by members, just 14 turned up to play in
today's stableford competition. Three members returned a score of 36 points, so
on a CPO David Slater was declared the winner from Jim Samuel in 2nd and Ian
Clark in 3rd. No 2's recorded.
Thursday 6th May 2010
Gosh it would
be nice to play a round of golf in some warmth in the day, Yet another cool day
for golf, but enjoyed by those who played. Today was a team medal. Playing teams
of 3 and with the best two net scores to count the team of Harry Martin, David
McCulloch & Robert Waite returned a net 140, runners up on 141 was the team of

Friday 28th May 2010
A brief update
on the last 3 weeks competitions. The 13th May was a stableford competition won
by Ray Arthurs with 44 points.
Monday 17th May saw the 1st round of the Phil Harrison Trophies, a medal
competition over 36 holes. The course seemed to be playing easy this day judging
by the scores that were returned, the top 8 scores were net 70 or better and
none more impressive than David Dalglish's gross 72 net 59. Roger Rees also had
an excellent gross score returning a gross 69, 2's this day recorded by Roger
Rees and David McCulloch.
Thursday 20th May and the second round of the Phil Harrison Trophies, Roger Rees
returned another impressive under par round with a gross 70 the result of which
his handicap is now 1. David Dalglish returned a net 70. So with the combined
scores of both Roger and David they were more that good enough to win the Phil
Harrison Scratch & Handicap Trophies. Roger's gross total was 139 and David's
net total was 129. 2's this day recorded by Roger Rees & Derek Smith.
Monday 24th May was a stableford competition won by Robert Waite with 38 points,
Douglas Pringle and Gordon White also returned 38 points. 2's recorded by Donald
Edgar & Ernie Henderson.
Thursday 27th May, a medal competition and due to certain senior opens in the
area there was rather a small turn out for the Mallards competition. Won by
Francis Fitzpatrick with a net 72
